Friends of Peninsula State Park Receive HERO Award

The Friends of Peninsula State Park received the 2018 HERO Award as the outstanding Friends group at the annual meeting of the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks Nov. 10. The HERO awards are given to individuals and Friends groups that have been instrumental in contributing time and energy at a state park, forest or trail.

The Friends of Peninsula State Park were recognized for raising $750,000 to rebuild Eagle Tower, as well as their continuing efforts to raise funds for an addition to the Nature Center and other park improvements. They also purchased a new gator and grooming equipment for volunteers to use in maintaining ski trails at the park. Peninsula State Park was also recognized with the 2018 Gold Seal Award for Best State Park System Beach.
