Friends of Potawatomi State Park Raising Funds for Handicap Accessible Fishing Pier

The Friends of Potawatomi State Park have met the $25,000 fundraising match put forth by a generous family. The Friends group is working to raise funds for the construction and installation of a new handicapped accessible fishing pier at the State Park.

With the help of this matching gift, the Friends of Potawatomi State Park, working in partnership with the Door County Community Foundation, has raised more than $257,000 toward this $313,000 project. The Friends group is now asking the people who love and enjoy Potawatomi State Park to help us turn this idea into reality.

Potawatomi State Park has long been the perfect destination for outdoor exploration with its many miles of hiking and biking trails, groomed ski trails in the winter, and a boat ramp for those who want to venture into the bay. The Park prides itself as being one of the more accessible places for people with a physical handicap and for its ability to accommodate seniors with physical limitations that come with aging. For more information on the new handicap accessible fishing pier, visit ParkPier.org or call the Door County Community Foundation at 920.746.1786.
