Gibraltar Talks Postcards

The first Gibraltar Talks of 2015 is “Yesteryears Fish Creek.” Richard Lauder will be the guest presenter to kick off the 2015 season, and he will showcase his recently expanded “Yesteryears Fish Creek” DVD on June 22 at the Old Town Hall in Fish Creek.

Lauder’s historically significant DVD, featuring more than 300 early photo postcards of old Fish Creek, captures early scenes of the village, many dating from the period of 1905-1915, a long gone era known now as the “golden age of postcards.”

Classic images such as the original Maple Tree Café from the early 1900s and the old footbridge across the Bonnie Brook creek all attest to the charm that drew so many people to Fish Creek more than 100 years ago. These and hundreds more all come to life once again in this unique 55-minute DVD that Lauder has professionally edited and produced.

Lauder’s own collection of more than 6,000 Door County postcards is a treasure trove of the county’s history. His presentations have been enjoyed and educational for those who come to his talks.

The presentation will be held at the Fish Creek Town Hall at 7 pm. Light refreshments will be served, donations are welcome and there will be postcards and DVDs for purchase.
