Gibraltar’s Run Ends in Regional Final

One of the best seasons in Gibraltar girls basketball history came to an end last night in the regional final. Gibraltar, which earned its first top regional seed this year, lost 48-42 to Hilbert in the championship game of Division 5 Region 4.

The teams were tied at 17 at halftime, but Hilbert opened up a 10-point cushion in the second half before a late push from Gibraltar. Senior Payton Pluff, in the final game of a stellar career, led the Vikings with 22 points, 18 coming in the second half. Karlee Kita added seven points and Abbi Sitte chipped in six.
