Girls Hoops: Three-way Tie on Top in Packerland

There is now a three-way tie for first place among girls basketball teams in the Packerland Conference after Sevastopol won on the road Tuesday against the previous sole league leader, Kewaunee, 38-33.

The Pioneers led 14-13 at halftime when their top scorer, Naomi Rikkola, tallied only two points before intermission and then scored 19 points in the final 18 minutes.

The Storm had two players in double figures led by Brianna Demmin with 12 points. Jade Kroll added 10 points.

Sevastopol, which lost its first game against Kewaunee this season at home in December, improved to 11-2 in the conference and 16-3 overall. The Pioneers host their next league game Friday against NEW Lutheran.

The Storm (11-2, 18-2) plays its next league game Friday at Southern Door.

Oconto, which previously defeated both Sevastopol and Kewaunee this season, is tied at the top of the Packerland with those two teams at 11-2.
