Pioneers Top Packerland in Girls Hoops at 7-0

Sevastopol remained the only undefeated girls basketball team in Packerland Conference play Saturday when the Pioneers won at Oconto, 69-42.

Kayla Ranly led three Sevastopol players in double figures with a game-high 19 points, which included three 3-pointers. Libby Ash added 17 points, with five baskets behind the arc, and Bailey Rikkola scored 13 more.

Addisyn Viestenz led the Blue Devils with 14 points.

The Pioneers, who improved to 7-0 in the Packerland and 12-1 overall, are scheduled to return to action Thursday with a conference game at Peshtigo, prior to non-conference road games Friday against Owen-Withee and Saturday against Mellen.

Eagles Fly Past Blazers

Southern Door’s girls basketball team evened its Packerland Conference record Saturday with a 64-44 victory at NEW Lutheran.

The Eagles were led by Allianna Dufek with 20 points. Ashlyn Delfosse added 15 points with Payton Gilbertson scoring 11 more.

Up next for Southern Door (4-4, 8-7) is a conference game Thursday at Oconto, followed by a non-conference game next Saturday at Oconto Falls.

Vikings Fall to Wolves

Gibraltar’s girls basketball team led 18-14 at halftime Saturday, but ended up losing its Packerland Conference home game to Algoma, 36-31.

Andie Schar accounted for more than half of the Vikings’ scoring with a game-high 17 points. Colleen Carlisle added nine points.

Ryley Zimmerman led the Wolves with 15 points, with Halle Panger scoring 10 more.

Up next for Gibraltar (1-6, 2-10) are non-conference road games Monday at Crivitz and next Saturday against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, before hosting a Packerland game Jan. 23 against Kewaunee.
