Girls Softball: Eagles Split Twin Bill With Wolves

Southern Door’s softball team played its first Packerland Conference games of the season Tuesday when the Eagles split a home doubleheader against Algoma.

The Wolves won game one, 9-4.

Southern Door was led at the plate by Abi Tooley with three hits, while Bella Price and Sophia Counard added two hits apiece. The Wolves’ leading hitters included Megan Zimmer with four hits, including a three-run homer, and Ryley Zimmerman with three hits.

Algoma’s Macie Zimmerman recorded the complete-game pitching victory with 11 strikeouts. Ashlyn Delfosse took the loss for the Eagles.

Game two, which went only five innings, was won by Southern Door, 5-2.

Delfosse led Southern Door at the plate with two hits, which included a two-run home. Madyson Counard also hit a two-run homer.

The Eagles’ Alanah Kaye picked up the pitching victory over five innings, allowing four hits and striking out three. Hannah Nell took the loss for Algoma.

Up next for Southern Door is a non-conference game Friday at Two Rivers before Saturday’s Packerland doubleheader at Gibraltar.
