Guest Artist Weekend at Martinez Studio

Nancy Keyser has been painting every day at her studio in Southern Door, preparing for her Guest Artist Weekend at Martinez Studio, August 10 – 13. An opening reception will be held August 11 from 2 – 6 pm.

Keyser evokes a mood with her strong use of color and light. She is also attracted to shapes of barns and outbuildings, and integrates them into rural scenes. Her loose, watercolor painting style captures the essence of farm animals, often with abstract backgrounds.

In 25 years of watercolor painting, Keyser has continued to pursue learning, taking classes from painters she admires— Phil Austen, Jack Anderson, Sharon Crosbie, Bridget Austin, Tom Francesconi and Emmett Johns.

“We love turning our walls over to Guest Artist Weekends periodically,” Sandra Martinez said. “It’s always refreshing to celebrate someone else’s work.”

The Martinez Studio is a working studio and gallery located one mile south of Jacksonport on Highway 57 and is open daily, 11 am to 4 pm daily (closed Tuesdays).
