Hey Peninsula Pulse Staffers, What’s Your Highlight of 2013?

Carol

“Meeting so many fun, quirky, loving people.” ~ Carol Thompson

“Being hired to work for the Pulse and Door County Living starting April 9, leaving the tiny house where I had lived for nearly eight years – the longest I have lived at any one place in my entire adult life – and moving to Door County, where I continue to have new experiences on an almost daily basis.” ~ Jim Lundstrom

“Welcoming my nephew Henry into the world in May. He’s the third child of my sister Sara and her husband Joe – in four years! I never knew a heart could hold so much love for three little people.” ~ Sally Slattery

Len

“Planting, seeding, pruning and watching the garden grow. The Pulse vegetable garden, now in its second year, produced tomatoes, basil, lettuce, mint, cucumbers and broccoli. In addition the flower garden bloomed and the phragmites, for the moment, have been defeated.” ~ David Eliot

“My favorite moment of 2013 would have to be being voted Door County’s Favorite Photographer. Yahoo! Photography is a tough field to be in at the moment, so most of us do it for the love of photography and the desire to share our vision and experience with others. Knowing viewers enjoy my photos is very gratifying. Thank you for your support, an excellent year and here’s to making 2014 the best year ever.” ~ Len Villano

Madeline

“Turning my husband into a canning master! Thanks for all your help, Ryan; I couldn’t have done it without you!” ~ Angela Sherman

“My highlight of 2013 is a no-brainer: I got married! After 2+ years of long-distance dating, Chris and I took the plunge on September 14, 2013 at the Alpine Resort. Door County now has a new resident, and I have a wonderful new family member.” ~ Madeline Harrison

“Nostalgia hit me square in the face – in the best possible way – the first time I stepped into Gibraltar High School as the assistant varsity volleyball coach. I’m thrilled to coach in the program where I first started playing, and excited to see how players improve through the years. Even the long bus rides and tough losses were a highlight of my 2013.” ~ Alissa Ehmke

“2013 was a year of coasting, stability and watching my son grow, no big milestones. Come April 2014, I will have owned my home for two years. I had a moment of clarity this year. I was sitting in my kitchen and realized my current goals had been accomplished and it was time to set more! Oh, and I did make new friends, buy a new car and publish four of my very own recipes in Door County Living. Life is good!” ~ Jess Farley

“Answering endless questions about how I’m enjoying ‘my retirement’ since I closed the bookstore – even though I’m working harder now, working just for the Pulse, than I have in many, many years.” ~ Steve Grutzmacher
