Honors for TAP’s ‘Lungs’

Third Avenue Playhouse’s 2018 production of Lungs won the Best Professional Play award from the Broadway World website. In addition, Elodie Senetra won the Best Actress award for the same play.

Lungs, by Duncan MacMillan, told the story of a couple’s relationship from their first meeting through the rest of their lives together. The couple, played by Nick Narcisi and Senetra, performed the entire play on a bare stage with no props or costume changes.

For the second year in a row, Warren Gerds of WFRV in Green Bay called Velvet Gentleman (closed Dec. 31) — and the performance by James Valcq in the title role — the best production of 2018. Number two on Gerds’ list of the best theater in northeastern Wisconsin in 2018 was Drew Brhel in Billy Bishop Goes To War. Gerds called Brhel’s performance “fully absorbing.”

Honorable mentions went to Doug Mancheski for Gray’s Anatomy, Claire Morkin and Drew Brhel for Stella And Lou, and Samantha Sostarich for Shinbone Alley. For more information, visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
