Hope Church Shows ‘Harvest of Empire’ on May 11

Learn how the United States contributed to the conditions that led to the violence, corruption and poverty that many immigrants are desperate to escape. On May 11, 7 pm, Hope Church in Sturgeon Bay will screen Harvest of Empire, a 90-minute documentary that was produced in 2012 and based on the book of the same title by journalist Juan Gonzalez. It contains graphic scenes that are not appropriate for young children.Annunciation House, a Catholic charity in El Paso, Texas, offers refugee support at the Mexico border by providing meals, clothing, toiletries and logistical assistance to immigrants continuing on to other U.S. destinations. Donations will be accepted for Annunciation House, and a Hope Church member who will be traveling there soon to volunteer will answer questions about the facility.
