Jacksonport to Build New Town Hall, Fire Station

With only two of its three board members in attendance at a special meeting on June 14, town Chair Randy Halstead and Supervisor Tom Wilson constituted the quorum needed to approve two items related to the new town hall and fire station. Jacksonport residents have already approved the construction not to exceed $1,500,000. The action taken at the June 14 meeting will allow the town to apply for a loan of $1,360,000 with the Commissioner of Public Lands. The 20-year loan is to be paid in annual installments at 4.5 percent interest annually. They also adopted a resolution to raise the levy to pay the annual loan cost plus interest. Schuh Construction of Seymour, Wis., has been chosen as the design build contractor/manager for the renovations and remodel of the town hall and fire station.
