Jane Tivol Glasswork Displayed at Santa Fe Shop

Santa Fe Shop in Fish Creek highlights a variety of artists and mediums, including the glasswork of Jane Tivol.

Tivol, who lived in California and was originally a floral designer for 13 years, was told by friends that she was working in the wrong medium, so she decided to try her hand at glass. In the summer of 2000 Jane packed up her belongings and left Venice Beach to venture to the Pacific Northwest. She ended up in Portland, Oregon working at the largest manufacturer of handmade fusible glass in the world. Even though she set the floor to the studio on fire and cut herself more times than she could count, Tivol still knew that she was getting an invaluable education and found that working with glass offered limitless possibilities.

After two years in Portland, Tivol decided to come home to California where she now owns her own studio. Jane uses a combination of soda lime glass and dichroic glass for her pieces.
