Judy and Carl Jackson Host Benefit Concert September 19

Judy and Carl Jackson, who will present their annual benefit concert on Sunday, September 19 at 7 pm at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, will combine the sonority of two nine-foot grand pianos for a varied program of appealing music.

Music chosen for the program represents a variety of images in sound. From the world of opera, they will play a collection of pieces from Carmen and Circus Polka for a Young Elephant. An evocative and fiery “Spanish Rhapsody” will be featured, along with “Variations on St. Anthony’s Chorale” by Johannes Brahms.

A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the young people of the Laotian community in Milwaukee, served by their pastor Phetsamone Vannavong. This ELCA congregation is supported by Shepherd of the Bay’s mission outreach throughout the year. The Jacksons hope to make it possible for these young people to attend camps and other Christian youth gatherings, which could enrich their lives and also their greater community. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be a partner for this benefit.

A reception will follow the hour-long concert. For those who arrive early, seats will be available in the choir section for a closer view of the concert.
