Kita, Forkert Win Top County League Honors

Nick Kita of Egg Harbor earned the Door County League’s top batter award for 2023 by hitting .500 on the season to edge out teammate Cory Fuller (.480) and Sister Bay’s Griffin Cole (.478). 

Sam Forkert of the regular season champion Sister Bay Bays took home the Pitcher of the Year honor after throwing 89.2 innings and hurling 67 strikeouts. 

Matt Ash of Egg Harbor was named Manager of the Year for his work in a season juggling a lot of players as the Indians earned a playoff spot. 

Sunday’s first post-season playoff games will include first-place Sister Bay hosting Egg Harbor. Second place Kolberg will host Washington Island. Awards will be presented at the Sunday, Aug. 27 playoff championship game.
