Kiwanis and Rotary of Door County North Bring Travel & Adventure to Door County

On Sept. 18, the Kiwanis & Rotary of Door County North Clubs kick off their 2015-2016 Travel and Adventure Film Season by island hopping to several of the Caribbean’s island gems. Moviegoers will delight in visits to San Juan, Puerto Rico; Havana, Cuba; St. Barts; St. Maarten; Antigua; Dominica; St. Lucia; and Barbados. Returning to narrate the journey for the audience will be filmmaker Marlin Darrah.

The Caribbean features some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world – from beaches to forests to mountains. Here you can see every conceivable shade of blue in the water, every variation of flower, every brightly colored bird.

A collection of small nations and territories with astonishingly diverse ways of life, each island is proud of its own culture and traditions. The islands were settled by migrant tribes from South America, gold-seeking Spaniards and European planters from France, England, Netherlands and Denmark. The racial mix has produced an astonishing musical and artistic energy, climaxed by the exciting week of Carnival.

Darrah’s 34 years of production experience have taken him to more than 140 countries worldwide, yielding more than 70 documentary and travel-adventure programs during his career.

Showtime is 7:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. Admission price is $7 for adults or patrons may purchase a season pass for $36, good for six admissions throughout the season; children under 18 are admitted free. Refreshments will be available during intermission. For more information, contact Gary at 920.854.4825 or Larry at 920.839.9419.
