Kneeland Wins Sprint Triathlon

Quinton Kneeland of De Pere outpaced the field in Saturday’s sprint distance of the Door County Triathlon. The 22 year-old finished in 1:10:43, well ahead of second-place Andrew Person, 40, who finished in 1:11:57.

The women’s race was much closer, with 58 year-old Sue Pierson edging 32 year-old Kristen Dostor by just 13 seconds. Pierson finished the quarter-mile-swim, 18-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run in 1:17:32.

One thousand runners were registered for the sprint distance. Saturday afternoon the youngest athletes took on the challenge of the Door County Kids Triathlon. On Sunday the big race takes place, with competitors taking on a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile run. All of this weekend’s races take place at Murphy Park in Egg Harbor.
