Lardiere Artwork Featured on “Forward Day by Day”

Ephraim artist Geoffrey Lardiere’s artwork was recently featured on the cover of the Episcopalian inspirational quarterly booklet, Forward Day by Day. Church of the Atonement in Fisk Creek was the distributor of the booklets.

The cover painting by Lardiere is entitled “Icon” and is the same painting that hangs in front of the Lardiere Gallery & Studio in Ephraim. Lardiere and his wife Ann are currently celebrating their 15th season at their Ephraim gallery.

The opportunity for “Icon” to grace the cover of the national Forward Day by Day was actually two years in the making. Over 400,000 copies of the booklet were printed and distributed to every Episcopal Church in the United States.

The former director of the Forward Movement, the Rev. Dr. Richard H. Schimidt was vacationing in Door County and came into the Lardiere Gallery and asked Lardiere if “Icon” could be featured on the cover of the inspirational booklet. Dr. Schimidt realized “Icon” was Lardiere’s way of painting the voice of the soul, in the abstract form of a church window. This painting is a continuing memorial to Gia, the Lardieres’ daughter who died at 10 years old after open-heart surgery.
