League of Women Voters Annual Meeting May 17

The public is invited to join League members and friends of the League of Women Voters for their annual meeting on May 17 at Samuelson’s Creek Pub & Grille in the White Birch Inn, Sturgeon Bay. Registration starts at 5 pm, the annual meeting begins at 5:30, with dinner at 6:15, followed by speaker Erika Sanders, Director of Program Services for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council (MMFHC). Sanders will discuss purposes and provisions of local, state, and federal fair housing laws, contemporary forms of illegal discrimination in the housing market, remedies available to those who have experienced violations of fair housing laws, ways to recognize possibly discriminatory experiences and actions that community members can do to help.

The cost is $22, which includes tax and tip. Dinner cancellations after May 10 will be charged. Guests may attend the speaker’s presentation only at approximately 7 pm.
