Letter to the Editor: Nelson’s Was A Gem for Tourists

I was greatly upset with the news of Nelson’s closing in Baileys Harbor. I’ve been coming to Door County for 41 years and every year there was a tradition of a visit to Nelson’s. Always Nelson’s first, even if nothing was needed. (But if something were needed, you could count on Nelson’s to have it, whatever it was!) After a visit to Nelson’s, a visit to other shops and a sandwich or meal would follow.

It is so sad that the residents of Baileys Harbor couldn’t see the value of Nelson’s to the town. It was a true tourist gem! Shame on them for not protecting and saving the business.
