Letter to the Editor: Right Or Privilege?

In last week’s issue of this newspaper, Oct. 6, 2017, in the section that tells us what our various governmental representatives are up to, I learned that Senator Ron Johnson believes that food, shelter, and healthcare are privileges. He says that it’s government’s job to ensure an economy stable enough that people can afford these “privileges.” So far, the track record has been dismal, to say the least. So…if people are lying in the streets (because they cannot afford the privilege of shelter) sick, bleeding and hungry, I better see my government lending a helping hand until they can uphold their end of the plan.
