Letter to the Editor: Judge Janet Protasiewicz for Wisconsin Supreme Court

I would like to urge everyone to vote in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election coming up on April 4.

This year we get to vote in one of the most important elections in the country. There’s so much at stake in this election. This year the Wisconsin Supreme Court will likely rule on a woman’s right to make her own health care choices, fair maps (gerrymandering), and removing barriers to our constitutional right to vote.

Judge Janet Protasiewicz will protect our communities and fight for a more balanced court. She has earned a reputation for being fair, impartial and following the rule of law. Judge Janet has earned numerous endorsements from many segments of Wisconsin, and two Door County Circuit Court judges have endorsed her: Judge D. Todd Ehlers and retired Judge Peter Diltz.

I’m supporting Judge Janet because of her judicial experience and background, and her impressive list of endorsements. She is currently a judge in Family Court. Prior to being elected to Family Court, she served for 25 years as an assistant district attorney.

With her election, she will bring integrity and balance to our Supreme Court, which currently, in my opinion, has made some rulings that diminish our long-standing right to freedom of reproductive choice, keep us in a gerrymandered state, and fail to protect our voting rights.

Your vote is your voice. Early voting has started, and Election Day is April 4. Please make a plan to vote and make sure we elect a competent and fair-minded judge to the Wisconsin Supreme Court – a judge who will bring balance to the court and follow the rule of law, not a political agenda. This person is Judge Janet Protasiewicz.
