Letter to the Editor: Thanks for Boys & Girls Club Celebrity Golf Outing

The Boys & Girls Club of Door County would like to thank all those involved in making our 8th Annual Celebrity golf outing a resounding success. The outing was held on Tuesday, June 6, at the prestigious Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor.

We have many to thank for the outcome of this event, which raised approximately $125,000 for the youth of Door County, bringing our eight-year fundraising total from these golf outings to over $525,000!

All of these funds stay in Door County to help support the Club which now serves nearly 500 youth every year.

The outing would not have been possible without the tremendous support of our presenting sponsor, Jim Olson Motors; our major sponsors, Triangle Distributing, Associated Bank, the T. Danis Charitable Trust, Bel Gioioso Cheese, Portside Builders, CHT, and Bill and Yvonne Boettcher; our lunch sponsors, Cellcom and Jimmy John’s; our cart and driving range sponsors, Wulf Brothers and Dave and Gini Roback; our accommodations sponsor, Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort, and our 62 tee and green sponsors.

Our thanks also goes out to our Door County newspapers and radio stations for their excellent coverage; without their assistance we could never have reached out to so many people.

A special “pat on the back” goes to Bill Jartz for conducting the live auction as well as moderating the very entertaining celebrity panel discussion and to all who donated items for the live auction and the generous bidders who contributed to the success of the outing.

Our sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the summer program which allows numerous children to come to the Boys & Girls Club this summer who may not have had the opportunity without these generous donors.

And then, there is our golf outing committee and the volunteers who help plan, work, organize and set up for this great event.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to our celebrities for traveling, at their own expense, to be with us: Paul Coffman, Johnnie Gray, Chris Greisen, Doug Hart, Mark Murphy, Joel Przybilla, Dave Robinson, Bart Starr Jr., Harry Sydney, Mark Tauscher and Marti Spittell-Ziegelbauer.

Last but not least, we thank our Door County golfers and Door County Trolley participants for their ongoing support, plus all the other golfers from Green Bay, Neenah, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and beyond to support our cause.

All of you are so appreciated. We couldn’t have done this without your support. Thank you, each and every one of you for making a difference in the lives of the youth of our community!
