Letter to the Editor: That Was Painful!

There we were, a room full of conservative constitutionalists, watching returns from a race between the liberal left, and our right-to-work, right-to-carry, right-to-rule our roost, wing of the Republicans Party. God knows why Andre Jacque, a senior statesman, candidate endorsed by so many in Senate District #1, ran a close second most of the night.

After all, Andre’s work with law enforcement had gained him the endorsement of district attorneys in Brown, Manitowoc and Outagamie County, as well as all five Republican sheriffs in the 1st Senate District. Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD) three times named Andre Jacque “Wisconsin’s State Legislator of the Year.” Wisconsin Coalition against Domestic Violence awarded him the “Legislative Champion Award,” and Brown Country Crime Prevention Foundation gave him their “Crimefighter Award, while the Manitowoc County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition recognized him for the “IMPACT” he’s had on our lives and community. Teachers, freed by Act 10, had touted Andre’s work while in the Assembly to secure their schools and redirect curriculums more toward a student’s interests and abilities, than on the failed “common-core” dictates of our bloated government bureaucracy.

During his time in the Assembly, he’d served on the WI Small Business Environmental Council, supporting environmental protection legislation, and authoring AB 179 & AB 388 on wetlands and brownfield cleanup. That work alone dubbed him one of the hardest working legislators in the Assembly, earning him nearly unanimous support and praise from conservation groups throughout Wisconsin.

So why didn’t he win? I’m sure the negative ads convinced some he hates clean air and water, and the Republicans in name only (RINO’s) who stabbed him in the back didn’t help. But! You can bet Andre will be back in the race come November. And, he’ll win!
