Letter to the Editor: The Stooges

As a youngster I couldn’t wait to get home from school and watch The Three Stooges. My grandmother reminded me daily how violent they were. I knew she really wanted to watch Liberace in the same time slot.

It’s risky to bring back a classic with new characters, but this latest attempt is amusing. Don as Moe. He’s funny when he uses sound effects like “beep, bop, boop” when he speaks. It’s hilarious when the wind gets a hold of whatever that is on his head. He looks like a member of the rock group, A Flock of Seagulls. Aaron as Larry, a kidder. Jesse as Curly, slapstick. Bobby Jr. as Shemp, replaced by Conspiracy. They make for good TV, because you never know what wacky madcap thing they’re going to say or do next.

Come November, funny as they are, I prefer reruns of the originals.
