Liberty Grove News and Notes

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The Town Board has approved a recommendation from the Economic Sustainability Committee to fund a postcard mailing to reach non-542 zip code Liberty Grove property owners asking for their consideration of locating or relocating a business to Liberty Grove. This effort is being done in co-operative effort with the Top of the Thumb organization. The Economic Sustainability Committee is continuing their effort to retain businesses and attract new economic opportunities to the area.

• The Town Board has adopted the name Garrett Bay Park for the area recently purchased from the Hidding family and the current launch ramp located there. The board further designated it a silent sports area. The ramp will be reserved for non-motorized watercraft launching. Signage for the area was also approved.

• A class B beer and liquor license was granted to Peter D’Amico. He will be opening Pasta Vino at the former Hillside Restaurant.

• Supervisors Frank Forkert, Ann Miller and Robert Tidball attended a Road Maintenance Workshop in Green Bay March 18. The workshop focused on proper road maintenance and reconstruction of roads. The next meeting of the Highway Committee will be April 11 with a walk scheduled for Isle View Road.

• Wisconsin election officials have endorsed moving up the state’s fall primary to comply with federal law, but they stopped short of recommending a specific date. Wisconsin will have to hold its primary earlier than mid-September to comply with the new Military Overseas and Vote Empowerment Act. The MOVE Act requires states to mail ballots for federal elections to military and overseas voters 45 days before the general election.

• The Spring Election is Tuesday, April 5. The Town Hall will be open for voting from 7 am to 8 pm.

• The Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for April 12 at 7 pm at the Town Hall.
