Liberty Grove News

• The town is taking steps to resolve the issue of excessive shooting on Mink 
River Road. Several courses of action were discussed at the first Board meeting of June. Input was received from area residents expressing their concerns regarding safety and noise. The town is also beginning the process of adopting a Nuisance Ordinance.

• The Board decided to offer the use of the Town Hall to four Liberty Grove non-profit groups for their meetings. They would not be subject to the normal rental and deposit fees.

• The Board has reviewed the current Fireworks Ordinance. Residents and visitors are reminded they need permits for any fireworks that leave the ground or explode. Please check with the town office or website for details.

• The town has been notified by the US Postal Service that they cannot afford 
the cost of the move to the North Fire Station for a temporary location during remodeling of the Ellison Bay Office. An offer by the town to help offset the cost of the move was turned down. The Postal Service is considering using the Ellison Bay Post Office during the remodeling. It is now estimated it will be upwards of two months before construction begins.

• Kim Schumway has been appointed to the Plan Commission.

• The town is awaiting word from Wisconsin DOT on the application to delineate pedestrian cross walks in Ellison Bay.

• The Highway Committee has begun consideration/discussion of bike paths in Liberty Grove.

• Health, Safety and Welfare has begun its deliberation of a Well Head Protection Ordinance. Representatives from Door County Soil and Water Conversation and the Planning Department attended the most recent meeting. Several residents were also in attendance providing their input.
