Cassandra Heimbecher-Santy and William Santy, Sturgeon Bay, are the parents of a daughter born on Sept. 6, 2014, at Ministry Door County Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. Maternal grandparents are Sam and Patty Heimbecher, Sturgeon Bay.

Kari Smith and James Cooper, Sturgeon Bay, are the parents of a girl born on Sept. 2, 2014, at Ministry Door County Medical Center, Sturgeon Bay. Maternal grandparents are Angelique Rich, Memphis, Tenn., and Dawn Woytasik, Algoma. Paternal grandparent is James Cooper, Memphis, Tenn.

Jean Marie Hamel

June 15, 1919 – Sept. 7, 2014

Jean M. Hammel, 95, of Sturgeon Bay, died Sept. 7, 2014, at Golden Living Center -Dorchester. She was born June 15, 1919 in Milwaukee the daughter of the late William and Della (Kurth) Sprotte. Jean worked for 40 years at Master Lock in Milwaukee as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1978. Private family committal services will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee. Harold F. Freest

Feb. 28, 1927 – Sept. 6, 2014

Harold F. Freest, 87, of Forestville, died on Sept. 6, 2014. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army during the WWII era. He was an active and longtime member of the Forestville American Legion Post #372 and enjoyed participating in the Flag Day Parade. John Thomas Carmody

Aug. 28, 1926 – Sept. 3, 2014

John T. Carmody, 88, of Monument Point Road, near Carlsville, died Sept. 3, 2014, at his home and family homestead, with family by his side. In addition to dairy farming John worked as a pipe fitter at Bay Shipbuilding Company. He received the thresher man of the year in 2009 at the Door County Thresheree. Walter Vartanian

June 25, 1934 – Sept. 3, 2014

Walter Vartanian Jr., 80, died Sept. 3, 2014. He and his wife, Mary Kay Kunz, lived in Palatine, Ill., until moving to Ellison Bay in 2000. In 2004, Walter, along with his son, opened W. Vartanian and Son, Inc., an Oriental rug and flooring shop in Sister Bay. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2 pm at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church, Ellison Bay.
