LWVDC Hosts Candidate Forum, Provides Voter Assistance

The League of Women Voters of Door County (LWVDC) has invited the three registered candidates running for the District 1 State Assembly seat to a candidate forum July 16, 9 am, at the Southern Door High School library.

Two Republican candidates – incumbent Joel Kitchens and Kewaunee County Board member Milt Swagel – are competing in the Aug. 9 primary election. The winner will face Democrat Roberta Thelen on the general-election ballot in November.

This will be the first in-person candidate forum the league has held since the onset of COVID-19, and if the LWVDC decides the COVID risk warrants it, the forum will be held online. Either way, the LWVDC will post a link on its Facebook Page and website (lwvdoorcounty.org) to watch the recorded forum after it’s held.

LWVDC will also host voter-registration assistance sessions in the lobby of the ADRC, 916 N. 14th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, on July 18 and 20, 11 am – 1 pm. Voters will be able to get their questions answered about registration, voting in person or by absentee ballot, and voting procedures for primaries.
