Peninsula Promotes Youth Golf

The staff of the Peninsula State Park golf course, as well as handful of volunteers, assisted in making their popular four-day youth golf program a success. Registration filled up quickly for their second of two golf sessions held July 13 – 16, as over 30 boys and girls from the ages of 9 – 14 participated.

“We had kids from all over the country here, as well as some local kids,” said Paul Schloemilch, the course’s co-manager. All aspects of the game were taught, from the basics of technique and form, to rules, etiquette and safety. A skill competition was held on the final day, broken down to three separate stations:  driving, chipping and putting.
