Marcia Nickols to Show Oils and Watercolors at Base Camp

Marcia Nickols will be featured with her oils and watercolors at Base Camp Coffee Bar on Oct. 29, 6 – 8 pm. Katie Dahl and Rich Higdon will perform during this time too.

Nickols works in water-based oils and watercolor creating Impressionist works using color and light. Water scenes are predominate in her work along with the people, boats and scenery of Door County. She is a keen observer of the movement of color and reflected light on the surface of water and within its depths. As the light source changes, a completely new scene emerges offering unlimited painting opportunities. At a recent critique several of the members stated that her painting “actually looked wet.”

With a Masters in Art Education, Nickols has taught since 1970 and continues to teach at The Clearing Folk School and privately. She is involved with many of the visual arts organizations in Door County and is past president of the Door County Art League. She has exhibited at the Miller Art Museum, the Hardy Gallery, Museum of Wisconsin Art, Peninsula School of Art, Meadows Art Gallery and DCAL Members Showcase. Nickols work can be seen at PKJ Designs in Ephraim, AMO Gallery in Sturgeon Bay and Fireside Restaurant in Ellison Bay.

Nickols will show at Base Camp, 7:30 am – 3 pm daily, during November and December. Base Camp is located at 10904 Highway 42, Sister Bay. For more information call 920.854.7894.
