Maritime Museum Displays Ornament Showcase

Approximately two-dozen ornaments and pieces of art will be on display as a part of the Holiday Ornament Showcase in the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. The pieces will be open for bidding on Friday, Nov. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 14.

The one-of-a-kind ornaments have been produced by some of Door County’s most distinguished artists including Dave Hackett, Marlene Poulton, Bethany Kirwen, and Jerry Waite.

“After a hiatus for a number of years, we brought the event back last year, and it proved to be a wonderful success,” said Trudy Herbst, the Museum’s Director of Development.

Bids may be placed anytime during regular museum hours. The museum is open daily from 10 am – 5 pm (closed Thanksgiving). Admission to the museum is required to access the ornaments, but museum members are admitted free. Bids may also be placed by proxy.

The final bidding opportunity will be during the Annual Museum Member Mixer on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 5 – 7 pm. Non-members may attend the light appetizer social for a $12 fee. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Maritime Museum’s Anchor Appeal Campaign.

The Door County Maritime Museum is located at 120 N. Madison Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.5958 or visit http://www.dcmm.org.
