Maritime Tradition In Baileys Harbor

Baileys Harbor will celebrate its rich maritime history with the Blessing of the Fleet – a tradition dating back centuries during which a priest or pastor offers a prayer of blessing for the safety of all those who fish and for a bountiful catch. The event is set for June 25, 9 am – 2 pm, with the blessing ceremony at 1 pm, when boaters of all types are encouraged to visit the marina for the official blessing.

The day starts with more than 40 vendors showcasing their handmade gifts and homegrown produce at the farmers market on the grounds of the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. Across the street at the marina, David HB Drake will perform songs of the seas, 10 am – 2 pm, and families can sing along and hear about Drake’s seafaring adventures.

Beverages will be available for purchase at the marina throughout the event, and visitors are encouraged to visit the food trucks and nearby restaurants for lunch. The Door County Maritime Museum, Friends of Plum and Pilot Islands, and Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be on hand to provide information.
