Martinez Studio Juried into 5th Consecutive Smithsonian Craft Show

Wence and Sandra Martinez will return to Washington, D.C. to exhibit in their fifth consecutive Smithsonian Craft Show in April 2017. In the 2016 show, they won the Silver Award for Overall Excellence. As the most prestigious juried craft show in the nation, 1,200 artists routinely apply to the craft show and only 121 are accepted by a rotating jury of museum craft curators.

“The Silver Award came as a complete surprise since there was no award for fiber and we were surrounded by breathtaking work from artists working in all forms of craft,” Sandra said.

The year winds down with 30 works from their three-month exhibition at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) returning to their Jacksonport studio just in time for the Sturgeon Bay Holiday Art Crawl, Nov. 19-20.

Join the artists at the crawl’s opening reception on Nov. 18, 5 – 7 pm, at Popelka Trenchard Glass in Sturgeon Bay. Then visit their Jacksonport gallery at 5877 Highway 57 on Nov. 19 & 20, 10 am – 5 pm. For more information visit martinezstudio.com.
