Martinez Studio On the Road this Winter

For the winter, Sandra and Wence Martinez, of Martinez Studio in Jacksonport, will head out west for some winter artwork retreats, including artist talks and pop-up shows. Sandra and Wence commented, “Door County is our little piece of heaven and our loving base here makes the travel possible and celebratory. We look forward to sharing our new work with you next season in Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., or out on the road this winter.”

The Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) has extended the placement of “Hawks Veil” (a 9’x12’ tapestry by Sandra and Wence) in their soaring atrium until mid-January after a three-month exhibition closed Nov. 14, 2016.

Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar in downtown Fish Creek reopens for dinner on weekends in January and February. The restaurants will hang Sandra’s latest large paintings from the MOWA show as well as Legacy Project weavings through May 2017. Pieces on display will be for sale.

Sandra and Wence have been juried into their fifth consecutive Smithsonian Craft Show, April 27- May 1, 2017. In 2016, the couple won the Silver Award for Overall Excellence. The Gala Opening is a ticketed event supporting the mission of the Smithsonian on April 26, 5 – 9:30 pm.
