Martinez Weaving Included in MOWA Contemporary Art Auction

Martinez Studio supports the Museum of Wisconsin Art by donating a weaving to their biennial signature fundraiser, “Vintage 2018: Pedals, Plates, and Pours.” Proceeds of the auction go toward art education programs and museum operations. The auction takes place July 14, 6 pm – 10 pm. Remote bidding is available.

The contemporary art auction will include a hand-spun wool weaving from Wence’s “Buffalo Robe” series, team-woven by Wence and daughter, Malena Martinez. The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian has a “Buffalo Robe” by Wence in its permanent collection. Works by Craig Blietz, Fred Stonehouse, and Beth Lipman are also auctioned.

If interested in participating by phone in the live auction, contact Heidi Wirth, Director of Development at MOWA, in advance to make arrangements at 262.247.2262. Arrangements must be made no later than 5 pm on July 13. Call 262.247.2262 or email [email protected] for more information.
