Monthly ‘Bookmobile Service’ Dinner

The Door County Historical Society will host its monthly dinner program, Door County’s Bookmobile Service, presented by society member Giz Herbst on July 23, 6 pm at the Lodge at Leathem Smith in Sturgeon Bay.

The program discusses the history and evolution of the bookmobile service in Door County in the 20th century. Herbst became interested in his topic when the Egg Harbor Historical Society purchased the old Door County bookmobile in 2014. Discussions grew as to what could be done by restoring it back to its golden era, but also adding Door County “Historymobile to its title and content.

The Lodge at Leathem Smith is located at 1640 Memorial Drive in Sturgeon Bay. The dinner includes a choice of broiled cod, a six-ounce tenderloin cooked medium, or a combination plate of the two entrées. Sides include a tossed salad, garlic mashed potatoes, fresh grilled vegetables, lemon caper sauce, bread, butter, coffee and assorted bars. Dinner and program fees are $25 for members or $30 for guests. Arrive early for check in and seating, doors open at 5:30 pm and dinner begins at 6 pm.

Make reservations by sending payment to the Door County Historical Society, PO Box 71, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Reservation deadline is July 17; space is limited. For more information call 920.421.2332 or email [email protected].
