Movies That Matter Series Presents “Life, Above All” at UUF

Life, Above All will be shown as part of the Movies That Matter series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on July 17 at 4:30 pm.

This film is an emotional and universal drama about a young girl who fights the fear and shame that have poisoned her community. Directed by South African filmmaker Oliver Schmitz, it is based on the international award-winning novel Chanda’s Secrets by Allan Stratton.

Just after the death of her newly born sister, 12-year-old Chanda learns of a rumor that spreads like wildfire through her small, dust-ridden village near Johannesburg. It destroys her family and forces her mother to flee. Sensing the gossip stems from prejudice and superstition, Chanda leaves home and school in search of her mother and the truth.

This film is part of the monthly Movies That Matter series examining a wide range of issues. The UU Fellowship is located at 10341 Highway 42 in Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
