New Blooms

This summer don’t miss the newly renovated gardens at Plum Bottom Pottery & Gallery. Many know Doug Mancheski for his role as an actor with American Folklore Theatre, many don’t know he is also a master gardener. Last fall, Mancheski embarked on creating a palette of color and texture to match the surroundings at the gallery. The result is a new garden space that blends with the natural beauty of Plum Bottom.

“We have always had a beautiful display of wild flowers here at the gallery,” says owner Chad Luberger. “Planting a perennial garden was the next step in the ongoing evolution of the gallery’s exterior. Doug really created something unique here.”

The gardens have even recently inspired a marriage proposal. “We can’t promise that result,” says Luberger, “but come visit the new Mancheski Gardens at Plum Bottom and be inspired not only by the art but also the surroundings.”

Now featured in the gallery are Luberger’s Ikebanas, a unique way to display flowers, leafs or fresh herbs. Ikebana is a Japanese term that refers to the “art of flower arranging.” Each piece has a pin frog in the bottom to help create unique displays with even a single bloom. Plum Bottom Pottery & Gallery, open 10 am – 5 pm daily, is located 15 minutes north of Sturgeon Bay or five minutes south of Egg Harbor on Highway 42 to 4999 Plum Bottom Road.
