Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The U.S. Postal Service has given the town the notification to proceed with the remodeling of the Ellison Bay Post Office. Dennis Laaksonen is the contractor with Mike Till Associates overseeing the project for the town. It is currently planned to have a temporary Post Office at the North Fire Station.

• Julie Felhoffer will be at the town office on March 24 from 10 am – 2 pm for anyone wanting to talk about financial help for projects that improve the safety and welfare of their home. Upcoming sanitary replacements, new roofs, repairs of porches, new windows, etc. all count. Please contact the town office for appointments.

• The Economic Sustainability Committee has adopted its Mission Statement, which Rob Burke of the UW-Extension System assisted the committee in formulating. The statement is posted on the town’s Web site. The committee is gathering data to help it provide information to existing and potential local businesses. At their meeting on March 9 they heard a silent sports presentation from Dale Krolick.

• The annual town meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 7 pm in the Town Hall. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Information on the meeting is posted on the Web site.

• Local municipal leaders will return to the Town Hall on March 29 to continue discussion on a possible fire district for northern Door County. The local fire chiefs have been invited to attend the meeting to give their input and ideas. The meeting is open to the public.

• Committee appointments will be made beginning with the April 20 Town Board meeting. Anyone not currently on a committee who would like to serve is encouraged to contact Janet at the town office. A list of committees is on the Web site.

• The town has a notification system in place that will alert residents to emergencies and important town matters. Those who have registered will receive an alert on their cell phone as well as their email. Visit the town Web site for information on registering.
