Notes from the Grove

• The IT Committee met with representatives from Cellcom and DCWIS regarding the Internet service now available in Liberty Grove and what their future plans are for service. Cellcom indicated is will begin installation later this year of additional equipment to provide better service and coverage. DCWIS is continuing its expansion of wireless coverage. Charter Communications was invited but did not attend. It is our understanding that no expanded service is planned at this time by Charter Communications.

• A round table discussion, “Working Virtually,” was held May 3. Area businesses and professionals shared their experiences using the Internet in Liberty Grove. It was the consensus of the group that they work very effectively utilizing the existing Internet options available. The IT and Economic Sustainability Committees will begin work on the suggestions and information that was presented during the discussion.

• The Finance Committee is now meeting quarterly to review town finances.

• Supervisor Frank Forkert has taken over as chair of the Harbor Committee from Jim Creed. Our thanks to Jim for his service on both the Harbor Committee and the Town Hall Construction Committee.

• The Plan Commission has begun initial discussions on the possibility of adopting building structure and control ordinances. State Statutes provide towns with various options for non-zoning ordinances. The Plan Commission is also beginning consideration for re-opening the Town Comprehensive Plan. They will review the procedures necessary for reopening for update purposes.

• A reminder that committee meeting dates are posted on the town website. All are open to the public.

• The Town Hall will be closed Monday, May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.
