Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• The final version of the Bicycle Plan was presented to the Town Board at their last meeting and was adopted. Interested parties may view the plan at the Town Office.

• Fred Anderson, Lars Johnson, and Jim Seaquist have been appointed to the Town Economic Sustainability Committee. The committee is chaired by Supervisor Bob Tidball.

• The first meeting between the joint ad hoc negotiating committees for the Town of Liberty Grove and Village of Sister Bay was held at the Town Hall on Thursday, February 10. They are working on a new waste water treatment agreement between the village and the town. The meetings are open to the public and are posted on both the town and village websites.

Trustees Pat Duffy and Ken Church are representing Sister Bay. Supervisor Frank Forkert and Utility Committee member Peter Sauer are representing the Liberty Grove. Administrators Bud Kalms from the town and Bob Kufrin from the village are non-voting members as well as Utility Manager Steve Jacobson.

• The surveys regarding high-speed Internet have been tabulated and that information is being passed on to the IT Committee. It should be noted that Wi-Fi access is available at the Town Hall.

• John Dwonch was appointed to the IT Committee that is chaired by David Studebaker.

• The newly remodeled Ellison Bay Post Office, barring any last minute glitches, is scheduled to open on Tuesday, February 22. A date for an Open House will be announced later.

• A reminder that Senior Lunches are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Town Hall. Please contact the Town Office for information.
