Notes from the Grove

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tidbits of information about goings on in Town Government.

• Quick reminders:  During Town Hall remodeling and new construction the Town Offices are in their temporary location at the North Fire Station. Town and Committee meetings are being held at the Ellison Bay Women’s Club. Please check the calendar on the Town Web Site for times and possible location changes.

• On Wednesday, July 29 Julie Felhofer from the USDA will be here to meet individually with anyone interested in what programs are available for assistance in paying for sanitary improvements. She will meet privately with interested parties at the North Fire Station. Please call Janet to schedule a time. Assistance may also be available through the Wisconsin Fund.

• Bud Kalms reported that progress continues on construction.

1. The WPS contract has been signed and underground service will be trenched in and the overhead wires removed. (This will relieve the Town from future problems as trucks have knocked these electric and phone lines down in the past.)

2. South footings and foundation walls have been poured.

3. Trenching for the drains for moving water away from the building has begun.

4. The Town highway and grounds crew has been busy hauling fill for the parking lot and north driveway, and adjusting the grade on the west side of the building.

5. The new waste treatment system is nearly done off the southwest corner of the parking lot.

6. Check the Town Web site for photos of the progress.

• The 10th annual community block party will be held August 1. It is held on Ranch Lane one block east of Highway 42 in downtown Ellison Bay. Please contact Janet Johnson at the Town Offices for details.

• Supervisor Forkert reported that The Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library Commission met on Tuesday, July 14. WiFi use at the Library is breaking all records for any previous month ever.

• Forkert also reported that the Information Technology Committee met to review and recommend approval of the contract for the new Town Web site to the Town Board. In addition, the committee also reviewed samples of a new introductory home page header provided by Pat Keenan. It is anticipated the new Web site will be operational by September.
