Betty Jane Anna Resler, 79, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away in the comfort of her home, Monday morning, April 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born at home on the family farm located on the top of Egg Harbor Hill on September 10, 1938, the daughter of Oscar Herman Tanck and Bernice Dorothy (Petersen) Tanck. Betty’s family eventually moved and had their farm on Maple Tree Road. She attended Egg Harbor Grade School and graduated from Gibraltar High School. After high school, Betty went to work at the Milwaukee Shoe Factory in Sturgeon Bay. There, she met John David Resler, Sr. They were united in marriage on June 28, 1958 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Egg Harbor and blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage. Betty worked as a housekeeper for the Ephraim Shores Motel for over 20 years and cherished all of the people she met.
She formerly attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Betty enjoyed tending to her flowers, especially her exotic lilies and roses. She liked traveling to Montana and Georgia amongst other places and going for weekend car rides. Betty loved her pets, but more than anything, she loved her family.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, John, Sr. of Sturgeon Bay; four sons, John Resler, Jr. of Savannah, GA; Mike (Audra) Resler of Panama City, FL, Todd (Angela) Resler of De Pere, and Troy Resler of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, Dirk and Brittany, Nicholas and Brett, and Morgan, Gavin, and Marissa; and brother, Oscar, Jr. of Goreville, IL; and other relatives.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Tanck.
A private family funeral service was held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor David Leistra officiating. Betty was laid to rest in the Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.
