Obituary: Corwin ‘Oscar’ Johnson

Corwin “Cor” Oscar Johnson, of Annandale, Virginia, 73, died peacefully on July 14, 2016, after a short illness. Loving husband of Erica Peterson Johnson; father of Erika Leigh Johnson; step-father of Mara Buncis Gallagher (Tom); brother of Conrad Johnson (Linda) and Karen Johnson-Zak (Rick); brother-in-law to Marcia Peterson and Lisa Schlismann (Norm); husband of the late Cynthia Paradise Johnson; brother-in-law to Chip Paradise (Sharon), Karen Farrier (Darrell), and Cathy Rowe.

A native of Door County and a 1965 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Cor left home to serve in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Langley AFB, he met and married Ms. Paradise in 1969, soon followed by the birth of their daughter Erika in 1971. In 1973, Cor and his family moved to Northern Virginia where he established a distinguished career in the defense contracting industry. In 2001 as a recent widower, he was fortunate to reconnect with Erica Peterson, a college sweetheart. They were married in 2004 and Cor was pleased to have a second daughter in Mara. Always an avid collector (stamps, coins, books), Cor also enjoyed gardening, traveling, great food, going to the movies, reading and spending time with his family and two pet cats, Mo and Griffin. He will truly be missed by many.
