Obituary: Donald Merton Rasmusson

May 28, 1954 – Nov. 18, 2019

Donald Merton Rasmusson, 65, of Sturgeon Bay died at home.

He was born in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Merton Roy Rasmusson and Dorothy Mae (Doran) Rasmusson. Don graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1973. He went on to study welding at Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay and became a certified welder. Don was employed with Emerson Motors in Sturgeon Bay, working primarily in maintenance, for 30 years.

He bowled in leagues for many years. Don enjoyed being outdoors – hunting and fishing with his family, primarily on Lake Michigan in the Sturgeon Bay area. He loved working on cars, especially with his sons. Don liked riding his motorcycle. Those who knew him know what a great sense of humor he had.

Don is survived by his three children, Christina (Steve) Haberli of Institute, Bradley (Alyssa) Rasmusson, and Bryan (Michelle) Rasmusson, both of Baileys Harbor; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Brent, Claire, and Chase Haberli, Charles “Chip” and Jacob Rasmusson, and Halyn and Keegan Rasmusson; four siblings, Gary (Betty) Rasmusson of Forestville, Darla (Lynn) Werkheiser, Merle (Chris) Rasmusson, both of Sturgeon Bay, Mary Jo (Steve) Chappell of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Sandra Rasmussen of Pensacola, Florida; other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrell Rasmusson.

Relatives and friends may visit with Don’s family Tuesday, Nov. 26, 11 am –1 pm at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Don will be laid to rest beside his parents in Bayside Cemetery during a private family committal following the visitation.
