Obituary: Faith “Faye” M. Shaw

July 29, 1943 ~ October 24, 2022

Faith “Faye” M. Shaw, 79, Algoma, died peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Kewaunee Health Services after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born to Clinton and Harriet (Van De Hey) Moreaux on July 29, 1943, in Appleton, WI.

Two years after graduating from Sturgeon Bay High School, Faith married Eugene Shaw on June 9, 1962, at Corpus Christi in Sturgeon Bay, WI. They raised their four wonderful children in Algoma, WI. There, they enjoyed the country life and adored their 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Faith was a lady of few words, but easily shared her wisdom when her family needed guidance and encouragement. She was very creative with sewing projects and her upholstery business, Shaw’s Upholstery. She and Gene were a great team that figured out how to repair things, including family heirlooms. She did exceptional work recreating furniture pieces for others and local businesses. She also challenged herself with car and boat interiors which she quickly mastered. She was an artist with recycled fabric that she would weave into wagon wheel rugs. Faith liked to be busy, and visitors would always find her in the middle of a project. She had an amazing work ethic and found ways to do her job quickly, while being efficient. She filled her time with gardening, canning (with her mother-in-law, Mildred and sister-in-law, Susan), reading, cooking, baking, being part of the hunting group every deer season, and choosing to work outside the home at Wisconsin Label until retirement.

Faith and Gene celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. They loved going for car rides and would often visit the casino with their incredible luck where Faith even won a car! They were two peas in a pod – inseparable, and Gene continued to care for, support, and love Faith until the very end. Faith was subtle in her style, yet strong in her faith and the messages she shared. She will always be remembered for her playfulness and beautiful laugh.

Faith is survived by her husband, Eugene Shaw. Her children: Corinna (Ronald) Farley, Julie (Jim) Evans, Leonard (Kathy) Shaw. Her grandchildren: Jacob (Sara) Farley, Leah (Scott) McFarlane, Michael (Jenna) Evans, Lacey (Adam) Ullmer, Elizabeth (Sam) Abegglen, Sarah Farley (Adam Pahl), Raymond Shaw, and Jennifer Farley. Her great grandchildren: Ferris and Aubrey McFarlane, Braxtynn and Benjamin Ullmer. Her brother, Edward (Deanna) Moreaux. Her sister, Beatrice (David) Jeanquart. Her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carol Moreaux, Bernard (Janet) Shaw, Carolyn (Donald) Chike, Clayton (Susan) Shaw, Jan (Fenton) Wierichs. Her many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Harriet Moreaux. Her father-in-law, Raymond Shaw. Her mother-in-law, Mildred Shaw. Her son, Benjamin Shaw. Her brothers: Clinton Moreaux, Ronald Moreaux, Victor Moreaux. Her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law : Barb Moreaux, Mark & Donna Shaw, James Shaw. Niece, Colleen McKay and nephew, Rodney Shaw.

Thanks to the entire staff at Kewaunee Health Services for their care, kindness, and love shown to Faith and her entire family.

There will be a public visitation for Faith, Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00 PM.
