Obituary: Frederick Haviland Mann

June 13, 1942 – July 30, 2022

Mann, Frederick H., age 80, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Sister Bay, Wisconsin died the evening of July 30, 2022. He is survived by his partner of 45 years, Charles W. Beasley.

Fred was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, son of Sarah Shewell Mann and Forrest Allen Mann. He was a graduate of Southern Methodist University, and began his career as an internal auditor at Royal Globe Insurance Co. in Chicago. He relocated to Florida in 1973 and became a partner with Babcock Realty Co.

Several years later he joined The Keyes Company, one of South Florida’s largest real estate organizations and became President of Keyes Management. He served as President of the Florida Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management, (IREM), a professional organization of certified property managers.

He established the Mann Property Company in 1986. The business thrived, not only due to Fred’s expertise, but also because of his unquestioned integrity and his ability to always exact the best of those around him in terms of ethical and professional standards.

Fred began visiting Door County as a child after his parents purchased a cottage in Sister Bay. The entire family would visit every summer – and Fred and Charlie continued this family tradition. Fred truly loved Door County.

Fred will be remembered for his character, kindness, generosity and gentle spirit. He was thoughtful, deliberate and a wonderful listener. He truly defined the word, gentleman.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to Fred’s niece, Margret Mann (Jim Coenen) for her years of unfailing love and support, as well as to caretaker and dear friend, Joe McNulty.

Per Fred’s request, no public service will be held. His cremains will be interred in Chicago at a later date.

Contributions to honor Fred’s memory may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation, Birch Creek Music Performance Center or the Door County Community Foundation.
