Obituary: Leroy “Gus” Albert Christiansen

Oct. 16, 1941 – Feb. 23, 2024

Leroy “Gus” Albert Christiansen, 82 of the Town of Sevastopol, died Friday morning, Feb. 23, 2024, at home.

Leroy was born Oct. 16, 1941, in Chicago, the son of the late Walter and Harriet (Nilsen) Christiansen.

He graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1959. In Jan. 1964, Leroy joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Sturgeon Bay serving on the Coast Guard Cutter Mesquite for two and a half years. He was then transferred to the Sheboygan Lighthouse Station, retiring in Jan. 1968. He and Judy returned to Sturgeon Bay where Gus went to work for Bay Ship as a skilled machinist, retiring in 2002 after 29 years.

On August 13, 1966, he married Judith Ann Marshall at Zion Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport.

Gus will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Judith; children, Tina (Brian) Schram and Chad (Deb) Christiansen; five grandchildren, Quin and Karley Schram, Zach, Kelsey, and Kendall Christiansen; brother, Douglas (Kathy) Christiansen; brother-in-law, Dale (Kathy) Marshall; sister-in-law, Janet (Joseph) Biwer; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, and Harriet Christiansen.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday Feb. 27, 2024, at Huehns Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Peter Martin. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
