Obituary: Robert M. Anderson

December 10, 1937 ~ October 2, 2022

Robert M. Anderson, 84, of Sister Bay, died Sunday, October 2, 2022, at his home with family by his side.

He was born December 10, 1937, in Sturgeon Bay the son of the late Milton and Edna Anderson. Robert graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1955 before heading to Chicago where he worked a few years in construction prior to serving our country with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. Bob would return to Door County working in all areas of construction for Willard Erickson, Carlson Erickson Builders, and Myron Beard at Highview Builders to name a few. He also worked in the 1980s for PBI Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay.

On April 12, 1969, he married Betty J. Hoefert at Ephraim Moravian Church and were blessed with two sons, Mark, and Scott.

Bob was a member of the Ephraim Moravian Church, a very active member of the Billy Weiss American Legion Post in Sister Bay for 60 years, the Sister Bay Lions Club, and Whitetails Unlimited.

He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and loved to be fishing with his friends. He was an avid baseball fan, coached little league and volunteered his time with the Door County Baseball League games for the Sister Bay Bays.

“Our father was a quiet, gentle, unassuming man who was levelheaded, kind, and very funny, possessing a dry sense of humor. “

Surviving family include his wife, Betty; two sons, Mark Robert (Cynthia) Anderson of Wauwatosa, Scott Richard (fiancé, Karen Bass) Anderson; two grandchildren, Claire (fiancé, Luke Garbett) Anderson, Holly Anderson; and three step-grandchildren children, Ryan, Haley (Logan Simons), Naomi Bass; two sisters, Beverly (Dean) Johnson, Sturgeon Bay, Carrol Flaum of Milwaukee; sister-in-law, Eileen Jacobson of Sister Bay; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Donald, Roger, and Paul.

At Bob’s request there will be no public service.

“Our family would like to thank Unity Hospice, their staff and nursing staff, Theresa and Megan, and chaplain, Marc Richards, and our VA centers for the kind and compassionate care extended to Bob and our entire family.”
